The King of the Ring is back as a standalone Premium Live Event for the first time in two decades. This time, the female superstars will also be represented. The big show will be called WWE King and Queen Of The Ring and will take place live from Saudi Arabia in May.
Below is WWE’s announcement:
The General Entertainment Authority, in cooperation with WWE, has announced that WWE King and Queen Of The Ring will be held at the Jeddah Superdome, the world’s largest pillarless Superdome, on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
WWE King and Queen Of The Ring is happening in Jeddah, alongside a host of additional exciting events happening in Jeddah throughout the year.
This marks the first King Of The Ring Premium Live Event to be held since 2015 and the first crowning of a Queen since the inaugural Queen’s Crown Tournament which took place at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh in 2021.
More details on WWE King and Queen Of The Ring will be announced in the coming weeks.
WWE Backlash
Another major event is coming to WWE Network & Peacock in May. Following the news of King & Queen of the Ring set to air from Saudi Arabia, Backlash will return in May from Puerto Rico. Recording artist Bad Bunny is set to be the host of the big event.
Below is WWE’s announcement:
STAMFORD, Conn., March 8, 2023 – WWE today announced that the two-time GRAMMY award-winning and global recording artist Bad Bunny will host Backlash on Saturday, May 6, live from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Backlash marks the first WWE premium live event to take place in Puerto Rico since January 2005.
“In 2005 when I was a kid, I wasn’t able to attend New Year’s Revolution at el Coliseo,” said Bad Bunny. “Finally, 18 years later WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won’t miss it.”
“We’re excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. “Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most-popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico.”
