For fans of WWE Talking Smack, there are changes on the way. During the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, WWE didn’t promote a new episode of Talking Smack as they usually would. Instead, they promoted The SmackDown LowDown. The WWE Network schedule is also promoting The SmackDown LowDown for 2 PM EST on the live feed. Talking Smack is no longer being advertised.
It appears Talking Smack has been changed to The SmackDown LowDown. It remains to be seen if there’s any other changes made to the program. There’s a chance the change is in title only. The graphic for the episode is identical to the ones Talking Smack generally uses. It remains unclear if RAW Talk will have a similar change.
A possible reason for the show’s name change is due to a television deal WWE has with A&E. Along with Biography: WWE Legends returning for a second season, WWE Rivals will be part of the new A&E WWE Sunday night block. Following both of those shows will be WWE Smack Talk. The series will be a post-show for the two prior programs. It is possible WWE changed the Talking Smack name to avoid having two shows sound so similar, though that’s just speculation.
Below is the graphic for the first episode of The SmackDown LowDown:
