As a reminder, a new edition of WWE The Day Of is set to premiere on WWE Network this weekend. This edition will cover The Horror Show at WWE Extreme Rules 2020, which featured a number of big matches including Bray Wyatt vs. Braun Strowman in a Wyatt Swamp Fight, an Eye For An Eye match, Asuka vs. Sasha Banks, and more. WWE Network is currently not moving forward with premium tiered content, also known as the VIP Tier. This is according to Frank Riddick, the interim CFO. In a meeting, he also stated that right now the focus is on the free version of the WWE Network, along with global localization pricing.
Below is the quote courtesy of Wrestlenomics.com:
Now turning to the second part of the question on payment: Payment tiers at this time, we do not believe the development of a premium tiered content strategy is the optimum approach for maximizing Network subscription value. In the near term, we’re focused on leveraging the free version that we just spoke about to enable subscribers to sample our content more easily, develop local currency pricing in select international markets in global currency, as we said, and further develop our advertising capability.
Additionally, WWE Network seems focused on creating more documentaries going forward. Below is Riddick’s quote on that matter:
So starting with the first question, Undertaker’s ‘Last Ride’ was a huge creative success that generated an extraordinary level of viewership on the WWE Network and is one example of how we can capitalize on the documentary genre. We create value for our company and our shareholders by creating documentaries that feature our superstar talent — The Undertaker, Roman Reigns, Charlotte, and others — and distributing them on multiple platforms, including our own Network. So we see that continuing, and continuing to drive value.
Another episode of 205 Live is airing tonight on WWE Network. And this time, the brand will see just one big match: tag action between Tony Nese and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Legado del Fantasma. Nese and Swerve have had a rivalry of sorts but recently an uneasy alliance seemed to have emerged.
Below is the preview for this episode:
Whether he wants an ally or not, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott has seemingly found one in Tony Nese.
After recently coming to the aid of his former rival and challenging Ever-Rise to an impromptu tag team match, The Premier Athlete gelled seamlessly with “Swerve” to pick up an impressive win against Chase Parker and Matt Martel.
While Scott certainly still seems a bit suspicious of his supposed newfound ally, he will once again join forces with Nese for a tag team match against another pair of common enemies, Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza of Legado del Fantasma.
And as Scott recently pointed out, he is the only Superstar to defeat new NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar since the leader of Legado del Fantasma debuted in WWE.
Can Scott strengthen his cause for an NXT Cruiserweight Title bout by picking up a tag team win against Escobar’s henchmen, or will Legado del Fantasma continue to dominate 205 Live and NXT?
Find out on 205 Live, streaming at 10/9 C on the award-winning WWE Network!
