Recent WWE Network Survey Reveals Potential Show Concepts and Plans – Live Events, NXT UK, Legend Docs, and More

WWE Network

WWE has released a new survey and it has many questions focused on the WWE Network. Included are show concepts and content ideas that may or may not see the light of day. These polls have taken place pretty frequently since the WWE Network began and most of what is suggested never comes to fruition, however it can be interesting to see what could be in the pipeline. Thanks to reddit user King_Swiss for making us aware of this, along with other users on reddit who later also posted information on these survey questions.

Several potential originals were pitched. These vary from scripted programs to documentaries and just about everything in between. This includes a “Superstar/Superfan” program that was seemingly tested out as a concept previously with Bayley on Youtube around the same time as WWE Photo Shoot, which became a regular series. Below is each idea presented and the description that accompanied it:

WWE Now LIVE! – Live morning show featuring the hottest topics and news in the WWE Universe.

History of FCW – While NXT is well known to the WWE Universe as a starting place for today’s WWE Superstars, many current Superstars started in pre-NXT, Florida Championship Wrestling. This is the story of the Tampa-based promotion and its transformation into NXT.

Documentaries – If they focused specifically on talent like Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels and more.

Superstar / Superfan – For example, Kevin Owens reflects on his time as a superfan.

Xavier’s Arcade Challenge – Xavier Woods takes his love of retro gaming to the finest “Bar / Arcades” in the country and challenges the WWE Universe in one-on-one competition!

WWE Cheat Day with Becky Lynch – WWE Superstars work hard, and train harder. See what they do on their cheat day, as Becky Lynch and Charlotte indulge at one of Becky’s favorite breakfast eateries.

Fashion Police / Unsolved Mysteries – Tyler Breeze and Fandango attempt to crack the case of numerous unsolved mysteries that have eluded the WWE Universe over the years.

House Hardy: Halloween special – Go inside the WONDERFUL world of the Hardy family in this delightful short form scripted sitcom, featuring Matt and Jeff Hardy!

WWE Network

Perhaps most interestingly, they asked about interest in potentially seeing NXT UK. According to formats from the recent taping, the WWE have filmed twelve episodes of the series already and have repeatedly promoted it as “coming soon” during WWE and WWE Network programming. It hasn’t been directly tied to airing on the WWE Network however it seems like a strange question to ask at this point with so many episodes already taped. This is definitely a bewildering one. Below is their description of it:

“The hottest young talent on the United Kingdom scene collide on WWE NXT UK. Featuring WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne, Mustache Mountain, Rhea Ripley, and more amazing Superstars, this is the place to see the most exciting performers from England, Ireland, Scotland and beyond.”

Another question poised to whomever was taking the survey is whether or not they would be more likely to watch the main weekly NXT series if it were to air live each week.

WWE Network

NXT wasn’t the only in-ring content they were questioning fans about. In addition to potentially airing NXT live or NXT UK on the WWE Network, they also are gauging interest in specials like Starrcade that took place last year potentially airing as a live event on the service.

And lastly for in-ring content, they also questioned whether the survey takers would have interest in seeing live events in general on the WWE Network without commentary or stories leading into the event. Essentially, this is asking if viewers would be interested in house shows without any real stories being told being made available.

WWE Network

Lastly, WWE included a poll where they asked readers what other wrestling promotions they watch. This did not companies they have relationships with such as PROGRESS, EVOLVE and WWN, ICW, or even companies they seem to have less developed relationships with such as WXW and SHIMMER. Instead, it listed the following options:

  • Ring of Honor
  • TNA/Impact Wrestling
  • Pro Wrestling Guerilla
  • Lucha Underground
  • New Japan Pro Wrestling
  • Other
  • I do not watch any other wrestling promotions

Of course, similar questions have been asked numerous times since the WWE Network launched, so this certainly doesn’t mean anything other than potential research in what kind of company, wrestling, or style subscribers or WWE fans are interested in.

Once again, we should stress that just because these appear on a survey does not mean that all, some of, or even any of these concepts will actually come to fruition as described or in general. With that said, let us know what you think and if any of these ideas and concepts interest you in the comment section below.
