As anticipated, in order to make room for the WWE Hall of Fame 2018 collection, the WWE Network removed another set. This was expected due to the WWE seemingly not wanting over 50 selectable playlists. While 51 themed sets are actually currently available, there are 50 categories selectable in the drop down box under the collections page due to Austin vs. McMahon having both sets in one.
Greatest Matches Ever was the collection that bit the dust this time. This set was one of the first six launched when collections began just over two years ago, and now it joins TLC Tag Teams, Brock Lesnar: Road To The Undisputed Title, and Celebrating Black History (2016) as being unavailable. In fact, the WWE Network has removed around 20 collections in total over the past two years, with a large percentage of that content removal being in the previous four months.
Of course, as of now watching through the direct links to the segments from this collection is still an option. This may last, and there’s even a chance the set makes a return in the future, however the more likely story is soon the individual direct links will also no longer work. Some had hoped this playlist would receive an update at some stage, and interestingly enough myself and Jon Potter had recently discussed that it could or should happen as it is both two years old now and relatively short in length compared to most sets available. It seems as though that update, unfortunately, wasn’t to be. On the bright side, every match on this collection is available elsewhere on the service so while it will be a longer and more tedious hassle to access and then watch each of these great matches, it is still possible to do so.

Another collection gone. What do you think? Does this collection being an original make it leaving easier or tougher to digest? Is the fact that it was relatively small and basic make it less important? And as we recently asked, what would you do about collections? Would you organize it differently?
